If your child brings home the Scholastic Book Orders from school, they always have one book on special for $.95 that is appropriate for your child's age. I always order those books on both my son's orders and then put them away for gifts. You can't go wrong by giving a couple of books for gifts!

I must agree with the ideas of the ladies. They were all good and I think cheap. You can buy a lot for your friends kid. But it is always good to also observe their different personalities.

try to window shop or search online. When you see that something is on clearance, discounted, or has coupons, grab the opportunity and buy it! :D For me, that's the best way to shop. haha

I have been seeing great "early" deals at Target and stores for board games for $8. Stock up now!

Everyone has great ideas! I am doing the beach towel thing with a huge bag of summer/beach/pool toys for 3 young cousins this Christmas..instead of christmas in July..it will be July in christmas

I also buy new items when found at garage sales and get toys/games at Target clearance

The quantity over quality is kind of true for the little ones and I have made a bag of stickers, coloring books, crayons, bath toys, bubbles,playdoh...all from the dollar store for 2-3 year olds as well.

check out discount DVDs also..I know for my own kids, they have sooo many toys, that I am suggesting movies for the holidays

My dollar tree had some nice puzzles and princess items for $1 and Bakugan cards that I picked up for stocking stuffers

Good luck!

Also, check out bartering board here. I know I have toys listed

Check out the Amazon.com sales, they always have toys for much cheaper than retail stores. I am doing this for a lot of my christmas presants too!
