1. hand-me-downs. My mil used to work with a woman who gave us sacks upon sacks of Gymboree clothing that looked brand new.
2. garage sales
3. consignment stores--fall clothes usually start coming in after July 4th.
4. Goodwill--some stores have a quarter day (a specific day of the week and whatever color they pick, it's a quarter)
5. clearance racks--Target and Walmart have great sales

I really love Clearance at Kohl's or JC Penney because as long as you have the reciept you can return anytime. So I buy clothes for my oldest the year before put in a bin in the attic with the reciept in an envelope on the inside.

Target is 90 days return and I am not sure of Walmart policies.

If you have teens where the brand is important, hit the outlets!! You can get some great deals there!

Sometimes you can get really good deals on ebay- of course the clothing lots where the seller is not jacking up the price on shipping!

Also finding out when your childs favorite store has good mark down sales. A few years ago my oldest loved Limited Too- with their prices i could really only afford 1 pair of undies! Anyways on a whim we stopped in there in mid March and they had a great sale where we got a lot of winter BTS clothes ahead of time (and of course she did not care for Limited Too by time school came around- then it became the Gap!).
