-- Don't buy a diaper bag - the hospital will give you a small one from Enfamil (I think - I can't remember, but it is from a formula company). Every friend of mine that has had a baby uses that diaper bag for the first six months at least b'c it's like the perfect size.
-- Start buying cloth diapers every month so you'll be stocked up. If you want to wait and buy them as the baby's size increases, buy your newborn stock first and then sock away money for them each month from now on out. You can stick it in a jar at home or put it in a savings account, or you could even use a Christmas Club account at your local bank, since you're able to get the money out of that mid-October I believe - perfect timing to have it on hand.
-- As for breastfeeding, I wish my mother had told me sooner how to condition my nipples so they didn't get raw from the baby nursing. (rub a dry clean towel on them) Maybe you should start doing that.
