My DS is starting kindergarten this fall and will need to wear a uniform to his school. I've seen a few places to buy uniforms from online. Has anyone ever bought Old Navy's school uniforms? Where else has good prices? Also, what would you suggest buying? How many pairs of pants, shorts, shirts...? It's not super strict, but they can only choose between khaki and navy pants or shorts and only 4 colors of shirts. It seems like it will end up being very expensive to buy what we need, including nice shoes and a belt. Thanks for your help!!

The Children's Wear Outlet

They have cheap school uniforms. I also have bought from Old Navy, Kohls, and Lands End. All with pretty good results. The Lands End pants and shirts hold up real well, but they are more expensive.

I forgot to mention...if you can afford to do it. Buy 5 pair of pants, 3 pairs of shorts and 5 shirts. Other wise, you will be washing uniforms ALL the time.

Also, our school has a garage sale before school starts for families to shop/sell their gently used uniforms for a great price. This helps as well. See if maybe your school has this as well.

My kids have worn uniforms for the last 4 years. I usually buy what is absolutely necessary before school starts and in early September when everyone has them on clearance I stock up and buy several pieces in the size they need now and a size bigger. We live in South Texas so we don't really need pants until late December/eary January, I wait to buy those when they need them since the it seems like my kids outgrow pants the quickest.

Target carries the French Toast line and they are very reasonably priced. The pants feel a little stiff at first, but after washing they soften up. Most of the items are also stain resistant and wrinkle-free. Target will run a 10% off sale soon. After school starts, they will start clearancing the items. Also, French Toast has a website and the items it carries on there are different styles than what is at Target. The only thing that I have found is that the sizing runs differently from style to style.

I really liked French Toast School Uniforms, the school uniform superstore. You can purchase America's best selling school uniforms online. when DD was in uniforms.

I agree with JulieConnor-
My kids wore French Toast- Target and they held up well
reasonably priced in our area- under 10.00 per piece
Now they wear Dockers- don't ask ;(

I buy from french toast because dd has to wear the plaid skorts/skirts. At the local "uniform" store they run about $30 PER skirt, on french toast I can get them for half that. Since we live in Chicago she mostly wears pants (navy blue) so those I can buy at target or sears and she also has to wear powder blue tops so I just buy the short sleeve polos and have her wear a navy blue or white sweater during the colder months.

I saw some at walmart and JC Penny's. You could try and find the pants at Goodwill and a belt and get the shirts pretty cheap at walmart. I'd start out with 2 pair of pants,1shorts,3 shirts and 1 belt. Then each week you could add a piece. To build them up.This is how I'd have to do it.

I see someone already recommended The Children's Wear Outlet and I do, too. I purchased 5 long-sleeve shirts, 5 short-sleeve shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, 4 pairs of pants (I have 2 other pairs from the thrift store). The short-sleeve shirts are $4.00 and the long-sleeve are $5.00; the shorts are $7.00 and the pants are $8.50. You can't beat the prices for new uniforms and they seem to be good quality. I guess I'll find out how they hold up this year.
