YMCA has a summer camp site called Wapsi. As a nurse if I had volunteered to donate a week's worth of time out there my dd would have been able to go for free. (would have saved about $160.00) DD looked at the brochure and didn't want to go but it's idea for others to use or for next year.

Some children's museums and science stations give discounts on their summer camps if you are a member. It might be cost effective to join if you frequent these places.

Vacation Bible School is usually free or very reasonable.

Girl scout camp is the same way ( in our council) if you volunteer for the health clinic- ( you assist a paid staff RN) and you are an MA/CNA/ LPN, paramedic, ect you can get a portion of your child's camp for free. Also girl scout camp is cheaper than YMCA camp, and you don't have to be a girl scout to attend- it's only an extra 10.00 to attend if you are non- girl scout.
