For someone needing maternity clothes but doesn't have much to spend, what tips do you have? What "normal" clothes double as maternity wear? How can you extend the life of what you already have when you're pregnant?
P.S. I'm not pregnant, just hadn't seen this topic covered lately!

I bought most of mine at a consignment shop and goodwill. I also used some of my dh shirts because they are quite big on me. Another tip I have is to NOT give any of your old clothes away until you are SURE your done having kids!!! I gave all my clothes to goodwill last summer "knowing" we were done, and oops, I was pregnant 6 months later!!!

I bought some at Goodwill. Some were given to me and I found some at the pregnancy center and clothing bank. I did keep some from when I had my daughter. I had to get more summer maternity clothes because I am due in October instead of December

I didn't wear maternity clothes, if I was at home I would wear comfortable sweats or t shirt and shorts. I had a uniform for work, so no maternity wear there either. Anything else outside home or work I would wear my "regular" clothes that still fit. Long tank tops were my friend, so were stretchy sweaters and sweatshirts.
Toward the last couple weeks of my pregnancy my mother, aunt and grandmother started buying me maternity clothes because they thought I would be more comfortable going out in public in them. They didn't seem to understand that I wasn't really out socializing and that gym shorts were a lot more comfortable than 5 inch thick elastic waistbands.

Thrift stores, clearance sales, ebay, etc. Sweat pants are also good if you don't have to go anywhere.

Garage sales, thrift stores. With both of my pregnancies I borrowed maternity clothes from friends. Since I worked outside the home 5 days a week I couldn't get by wearing sweats. When I was at the awkard stage where I was getting to big for my regular clothes but not big enough for maternity clothes I would wear legging pants & my husbands dress shirts untucked. I also bought something that was called "the belly belt" that you can use on your regular pants & jeans, and then I would wear either a maternity shirt or my husbands dress shirts.

well with my first two daughters i didn't have the luxury of maternity clothing. so i brought lots of yoga style pants and i still wear them. anything with an elastic waist was worn. plus lots of cute sweatpants and men's undershirts (either the wife beater type or the plain undershirts because of the lightweight materials) were cute. i still wear much of that stuff.
now with my last baby girl, i was able to buy maternity. so i brought only from ebay and old navy. i was able to buy all of my maternity clothes (about 20 peices in all) for about 70.00 total, including s&h. i brought everything on sale only. i must say, i like to live nicely, despite needing to be frugal. it's possible.
and to make even more money, i sold all of the pants as a large lot and all of the shirts as a large lot. i made back every single penny i spent on them, despite them being gently used.

I'm a teacher and in my building someone's always having a baby. A group of us put our maternity stuff in a rubbermade tub and passed it along when we were done to the next PG person. The tub had stuff from all seasons and a variety of sizes. We were able to layer summer tanks/t-shirts under sweaters, etc. Tops were easy to share but pants tend to be harder, since I'm the short one of the bunch. A couple of us had been to weddings, so there were even a few "evening" dresses in there to choose from. When something gets yucky, or to stretched out we just pitch it and add something else. It has saved us tons of money buying new stuff with each pregnancy.
