I got my son some nice new shoes, underwear, socks, t-shirt and some school supplies for free. It is a program that is for lower income families. I was so happy to be able to get my son some new shoes and save some money

That sounds great! I bought my kids clothes week by week off of clearance. But you know I was thinking that same question today. It seems like they would offer assistance with back to school gear. I am thankful for the insurance program for my kids. I have a friend that has trouble with new school clothes they are very low income. Is that a social services
reasource?I'd love to tell her about it.

I saw something in our local paper last year for a program like that. I didnt go since I didnt think it was fair since the kids werent going to daycare or anything. I didnt want someone else to miss out especially if they needed it more than we did. I am going to be watching the paper for the next few days to see if they are doing something like that again.

It kind of is, but it is put on by our clothing bank. I get to go there once a month for nice used clothes and then they take donations of new shoes in the fall. You could call your local DHS and see if they offer anything like it.
