My kids seem to be a little older than most of the other posters. Besides the obvious Legos, board games like chess, checkers, Monopoly, Operation and Othello are big hits around here. The kids love playing them and they like knowing that these are the same games that their mom and dad played when they were little too.

I forgot to mention that my son is 6 and has been playing with matchbox cars since he was like two years old. He can play with them for hours and he "talks" for them. It is really cute

My daughter loves all sorts of art supplies, and Polly Pockets keep her busy for hours.

Also, my son (age 4) loves, loves, loves Rescue Heroes and his Fisher Price pirate ship. You can buy Rescue Heroes very inexpensively at used clothing/toy stores (I paid $40 for a hugh pile of them at Christmas). I bought his FP Great Adventures pirate ship on eBay for about $40, and he plays with the thing every day.

Without question it would be the inflatable waterslide (I wish Crazykelly lived closer, she could use mine!). My kids use it ALL the time. Even if it doesn't make it past this summer, though I think it will, it was totally worth it. The bounce house comes second so I'm planning on replacing it with a trampoline as they get older. For my little boy, it is his motorized Mustang. He rides that thing so much. I would have said the L-max because my daughter use to play it all the time but she has seemed to stop using it now. Little People have been my worst purchase, three kids and not one of them touch them. I'm going to keep trying though!

The Bobblin Band Car Mirror. Not sure who makes it, found at BRU.

My car seat hater turned into a car lover overnight with this thing.

In my household, my 6 yr old loves his hotwheels, sizzlers and track(my hubby had a sizzler track when he was younger) lincoln logs and legos, he makes car tracks/ cities and pretend guns with his legos. It is great for imagination. Also hotwheels are inexpensive and great stocking stuffers and for easter baskets. Magnetics are fun for older kids.

Gameboys are a life saver-they were christmas gifts. I do not like the kids to play lots of video games. but the game boys are super nice for long car trips.
The boys are star wars nerds thanks to their dad-an even bigger star wars nerd. So they have tons of star wars figurines that they play with daily.
star wars nerds- ditto in this household! I have a girl and no boys! DD LOVES her star wars toys, lol.GO figure!

Blocks, Legos, Little People, Puzzles, art supplies, pretend play food & kitchen supplies, Disney online pre-school playhouse subscription definitely worth it.

Expensive baby dolls- useless, dd prefers cheap little baby dolls & rarely touches her Baby Anabelle.
My first Leappad, rarely touched.
Most stuffed animals, hugged once and then ignored.
