We just bought a great board game, TRAVERSE. It is a mix of checkers, chess, and chinese checkers, and it is FUN!:happy dance:

There are 4 pairs of pieces each that move different ways -- like chess. If the pieces are lined up correctly, there is the possibility of jumping -- like Chinese Checkers. The goal is to move all of your pieces to the far side of your starting point. There are a few other rules that add a bit of strategy to the game too. Last night, three of us played, and that really made for lots of action!

My DS can often be frustrated with chess (having pieces captured), and I HATE checkers! This is a nice in-between game!

I think I will give this as a family gift to relatives at Christmas !
