Instead of taking my kids to an expensive portrait studio and spending WAY too much money on poses I'm not sure I'm gonna like, I've resorted to taking my own photos. During the summer months, I like to take my kids to a scenic place such as a rose garden or the beach and bring along my trusty digi cam. I just snap picture after picture after picture. Then at home I pick out the best ones, upload them to a photo hosting site and print them out for MUCH less than I would have paid elsewhere. Alot of times if you have a code, snapfish and some of the other places will do prints for less than .10. I paid a whopping $13 and I got a 8X10, some wallets for the family, some 5X7s for the grandparents and I made regular photos for my photoalbums.

At certain times of the year, snapfish also runs specials on thier photo books, and photo gifts. For christmas last year, I gave my mother and my MILmonth by month calenders with photos of the kids. I paid $16 each and they were the BEST gifts. My MIL cried when she looked through hers.

Very good idea. When the time comes i am going to have my brother's wife take digital photos of my DS for his Senior Portraits. She used to work for a Professional photo studio and studied graphic arts in college, she took my cousin's senior portraits 2 years ago and they turned out beautiful and LOTS cheaper than a professional studio.

And the best part! You can fit it around your kids schedule! Meaning no pictures with crying, cranky babies!
