Ok gals,
I know riding the bus doesn't sound like fun but if you have 2 young boys like I do, they LOVE it. They ride for free and I'm only $1. We just drive to the bus depot and pick a bus. Then we ride it all over town and back to the depot. Most routes are about an hour and a half. I keep lunch in a cooler in the car. We walk to the park behind the depot to eat, play on the playground, and feed the ducks. A good day's worth of activity for $1!

my husband and i almost always take the bus. it does save a lot of money, and he doesn't sit in mornig rush hour traffic when he goes to work. the only time we get in a car is when the destination is out of the service area. it's $3 for adults here, though...

My friend and I got "lost" on a bus one time...

Hint to self - when you are visiting relatives in a different state, and they give you bus tokens, just tell the bus driver where you need to be let off.

Yeah.

We got to take the bus from Redondo Beach all the way to Long Beach, CA - going through some dang scary parts of town. Had people dealing drugs behind us, some very drunk/high homeless dude singing, lots of fun stuff. Not the type of things two chicks from rural MI were used to! We called my uncle, since by then our 5 minute ride was like 1 1/2 hours long. Another hour later we made it home (in Torrance) safe, with help from Mr. Bus Driver!

I've never been on a city bus then or since, but then there are no city buses around here. It was more than a little scary.

Now you can all laugh at me!

I know during the summer they give you a discount if you show your library card--worth checking out.

It costs 75 cents for adults here, 60 for children, under 5 are free. And since I live in the township, I get to ride the dial-a-ride, which means I call for a bus, and they are here in under an hour and they pull up right in front of my house. I do have to ride for a bit if I have to go all the way downtown, but most of the stores are up here on the north end, so I only have to take 2 buses, and we are on the bus 15-30 minutes.
