I try really hard to think about where my money is going (if I have to spend it) It is easier to save (or spend) if you think about where the money goes. I shop at a local grocery store that has great prices. I know the owners live here, so at least my money stays here. I also think twice about buying something that might have been produced using child labor, sweatshops or bad business practices. I shop at walmart because I can't afford not to, but I try really hard to check labels and buy US made products. I also buy coffee beans (grind them myself) from a local coop. I pay a little more for the organic beans but I know that the farmers that raise them are getting a fair deal and not harming the rainforest. Which ends up being a good lesson for my kids. Think about what your buying and the cultural impacts it might have.
