As a family on a budget (like all of us) I need to come up with some inexpensive but good Christmas gifts for the kids teachers! I am very crafty but can't seem to come up with a great idea! The main teachers I have ideas for it's the P.E. arts, music etc that I need ideas for! I thought about baked goods or even those chocolate dipped spoons but both of those are rather played out!
Anyway have any good ideas?

You know, I really don't think that teachers expect anything...I myself have run the gamut on gifts for teachers. Sometimes spending a lot and sometimes just having the kids write letters saying how much they're enjoying the year, what projects they enjoyed etc I have to say, that year, several teachers told me how much they enjoyed the kids letters. This is not to say that other years they didn't enjoy my gifts (at least I hope not! LOL!), I always got thank you notes, but from what I hear from friends and family that are teachers, they really don't NEED anything and it's so nice to hear from the kids. I saw pointsettias at WalMart the other day for just under $3. Maybe send in something like that with a note.

Last year we gave Amaryllis or paperwhite narcissus bulbs in a clear glass bowl (so the kids can watch the roots grow). It was a popular gift!

I asked some friends that are teachers the other day and they said gift cards overwhelmingly. $5 is great. They hate nik-nacs, lotion and anything with a teacher theme - like apples or pencils.

Just another note - they also said that if they don't know the mom really really well, they will not eat their baked goods. You just never know anymore - you have to think of it from their view. You don't want to waste a day and the $ to bake stuff only to have it thrown away......

I'm going to do a 10 dollar gift card to Target for ds's and dd's teachers. I don't like getting things for teachers since I don't know them. I know many would throw away baked goods. At least with the gift card they can pick what they want.

I don't care if the teachers will eat my baked goods or not, but that is what all the teachers and daycare workers are getting from me. It is a token of my appreciation for what they do. Once they receive the gift, I don't really care what they do with it.

My DD's school is doing something neat this year. The teachers have been asked to put wish lists on a tree in the lobby. If you want to get something for the teacher, you have an idea of what they really would appreciate. The wishes are supposed to be up on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.

I do Bath and Body works for my teachers. If I hit the semi-annual sale, I can pick great stuff up for $5 or less. At this time of year, get yourself some coupons and they love the anti bacterial hand soap. It is cute simple and everyone uses it. Cheap after coupons.. Also, if you have Doller Trees, they had some really cute body wash and lotions in Gingerbread containers. They smell great and are a huge hit, for a $1 a piece. Just some suggestions....Good Luck....Tonia

I bought a couple of poinsettas at home depot for $.99 each and they had cute little red buckets with white furry trim at the dollar spot at target I am putting them in. But, I have heard of gift cards for book or teachers stores is popular.
