We just tried out skype for the first time this weekend and I have to say I'm impressed. I was talking with someone in Nepal and it was like the were sitting right next to me. And it was free! My dh left for India today for 6 weeks and we get to chat computer to computer for free!

Anyone else use it and love it? Why have I been spending all this money on long distance when I could have done it better, clearer, and with video for free?

Haven't heard of skype, but we do have messenger....sounds like the same thing. And it's great!!, especially the free part.

when my dh was away, he was a bit lonely from us and we kept it on almost all day so he could get a feel of home. (And he travels frequently, lol) Once we were done talking he said to leave it on.. So he was watching me vacuum while he was getting work done! Yeah, it's pretty cool!

We love skype. It's a great way to stay in touch with our friends and family overseas.
We use a logitech webcam and the kids love to show their artwork, new toys, our new puppy or whatever else they can find to everybody.
We don't even have a long distance carrier for our phone ...

My husband wouldn't want the camera on while I'm doing chores. He is always in perv mode. That sounds really cool. We'll have to check it out.

My sister lives in the UK and made me download Skype, but we haven't used it yet. We just use Gmail chat.

My MIL uses it to chat with her family in South America. It works great for her! It's super easy to set up...

Sounds like a good idea, to save money

We have it and it's great. It comes in handy when my young son misses his dad at work (he works 12 hour days) and they can see each other and chat. I also like seeing my hubby before I go to bed sometimes. It's a great addition to our life.

We have it and use it often to talk to family in Japan. Skype is great!!!! It is free to talk computer to computer but if you use it to call a landline, it does have some fees even though they are really low.
