My dd's dance at a Just for Kix. You buy one costume and depending on when you join the program your child might get 2 years out of it. If not you can add your name to a list of those people selling their costumes at a discounted price. If you are interested in buying a used costume just call the people on the list and see if you can get a price that's in your budget.

My daughter's costume was $90 and they change the costumes each year. That's for a Kindergartner! The recital tickets were $20/each.

She's not taking ballet next year and this is a big reason why.

Do you know what's even worse? They split the recitals into two different performances. So, if you have one child that ends up in the morning recital and another who ends up in the afternoon session, you have to fork over $20 for each show per ticket. That's $80 for two parents to see their kids perform.

My husband wants to know why they don't just raise the tuition $40 and give two free tickets for the parents. It would make us feel better!

We don't have any town dance classes and I chose this dance school because it's not as "serious" as the other big one in town. They make you attend "bun making classes" before the recital

I'm sorry you can't find a cheaper alternative. I just had to crack up at the bun making class. There is an instructor here in town we call the Dance Nazi. She has yelled at a 4 yr old up the street when she missed her mark. It's no fun for the kids when it is that stressfull. I wish you could find a nice relaxed environment that doesn't break the bank.
