I cut my husbands hair. Sometimes I will cut and thin out my daughters hair. I would never attempt to cut my own hair.

I cut DH's hair. He doesn't have a whole lot. 10+ years ago when I went with him to get his hair cut, I watched her and realized that I could use the razor thing too.

I have been cutting my oldest sons hair since they were little......but they are both easy...take the buzzer with a 1/2 comb on it and away I go.....the oldest has thick gorgeous hair but hates it so he shaves it regularly...the 20 year old is in the national guard....and well they all look alike....LOL my 5 year old likes his hair cut like the big boys.....and come summer the DH likes his short also....he needs his hair during the winter for warmth......and mine I trim here and there and don't trust anyone to cut it...... I have saved thousands over the years......it also helps that i took cosmetology classes 20 years ago...learned a lot but never did anything more than friends and family with it.

I swore up and down I would NEVER cut my girls hair and I broke that rule a few weeks ago. (too many bad hair trims I did to myself) I trimmed 2 DDs hair and saved me $20 and a 2 hour trip home plus gas. NOW when we do LOL soon I will go home to my friend for that.

I've only been to a professional hair dresser 3 times in my life -- once before college (a cut and perm that I regretted soon afterward), for my wedding and for my best friend's wedding. My hair is straight and long, so I usually grow it out and donate it to Locks for Love. My dd1's hair is very thin and fine, so I've only cut it 3 times in 5 years (she barely had any until she was 2). The same is true of dd2. So we save lots of $$$.
