I love hand me downs! When my son was a baby and toddler he got all of my nephews and cousins clothes, but he is now bigger then them so we give them our sons old clothes.

Every once in a while we come across someone wanting to give away their kids clothes from my dh work or a close friend. We usually take them and keep the items that will work for our kids and donate the rest to a local Goodwill.

Love them! Like someone said above you have the luxury of picking and choosing. And especially for babies that grow so fast it is great!!! I had tons of hand me downs when my daughter was born and because of that was able to return a lot of the layette (onsies, pj's, etc) that i received at my baby shower. I hesitated to do that but after seeing how fast she grew out of things i'm glad i did. In fact 2 years later i still have $80 in store credit left at babies r us from those returns. That store credit has helped me immensly over the last 2 years!

I have a friend that will not accept hand me downs, in fact she wont even look in the bags just takes it straight to goodwill! Crazy! There might be some gymboree or gap in there LOL!!!!

I love hand me downs! I just wish we were given more of them. Going through the bags is easier (and cheaper!) than go to garage sales. My cousin gave us a bunch of stuff for DS which is now organized in bags according to size 3T-6. I added to that the bag of garage sale leftovers for my SIL's friend. The leftover bag had great stuff in it - a snow suit!, tons of shirts and PJ's. DS is now set for fall/winter!

I love them! Even for myself! It's like your birthday when your going through stuff. We keep the clothes that are in great shape and worth keeping of course.

I LOVE hand me downs too!!!

That's a wonderful family savings you got in those bags there!

I regret getting rid of all my baby stuff after I had baby #2 because when I found out I was expecting baby #3 I had NOTHING....I mean 0...and a friend of mine just had a small yard sale that had baby furniture in it and clothes ect..so I got a nice selection. It's boys stuff but I will be using the blues, trains and trucks on my little gal if that's what we have...because it'll save us! And I'll of course sew something girlie to the clothes if needed..

The excersaucer, walker, carseat...was all very much loved and I snatched them up right away!! Once you realize the cost of supplies for a baby...vs. your wallet..you happily accept freebies and hand me downs..or atleast I do! lol

Whoever said it's like Christmas was right. When we have a family reunion each year, several of my cousins and aunts and I all bring along bags of clothes. We are all about the same size, and even though things still fit, sometimes we are just tired of wearing the same over and over. Swapping clothes is just like getting new.

Don't stress it. I have 2 boys but my neighbor has a little girl and she is always wearing Spiderman shirts or other boy clothes at home. Now when they go out she is in the pink and purple wardrobe but they'rte just playing so what does it matter and spitup looks much better on blue than pink. LOL
