Has anyone done a comparison of quality/price on school supplies between Walmart and Target for this year? I prefer to stay in Target, but will travel a little and brave the.....riff raff (sorry, that's what our Walmart draws due to its location. They are just rude there!) if I'll save enough to be worth the gas and hassle.

i buy the name brands like elmers crayola mead ect so quality between the two for me would not matter it would be price since our stores are close.. i would say there probably is not that big of difference so if you have to go to a bad area or drive farther not worth the savings.. do you have a staples i got some things for cheap there like mead wide ruled notebooks for 5 cents a piece last week so i bought a case of them lol..

You may want to check out Walgreens. Their circular had some great deals .... stretchable covers BOGO, 5 cents for mechanical pencils, mini composition books, rulers for $0.19, filler paper $0.29 ... you need the coupon from the circular which is right in the door when you walk in. There are limits for these items. So my 2 kiddos are customers as well. (For their service they get to keep the change ... I keep the bills).

I drove out of my way to go to a "better" Walmart for my kids' back to school supplies. At this particular Walmart, the associates aren't rude and the parking lot is well lit. The other Walmart isn't the cleanest place around, and the associates (and some customers) act very rude.

Honestly, I wish I lived closer to Target.

I don't have a Target close to make it worth the drive, but by comparing the sales ads (since Wal-Mart matches prices) I've not found that much on sale at Target yet that I needed but I'm sure before school they will. They do currently have the double pack of Elmer glue sticks for 20 cents compared to Wal-Mart's 22 cents. Just check their circulars and compare the prices to see if it would be worth it for you.

I was just going to mention Walgreen's too. They have coupons for tons of basics. Both Target and Walmart also have good deals this week so it probably isn't worth a trip out of your way to go to Wally World.

This is what I got at Walgreens this week. Just the school supply part of this picture was well under $2! If you go, don't forget to print out the $1.00 off Bic coupon.

Whatever you do, don't buy Target brand glue sticks. They do not work well. I mainly shop b-to-s at target but avoid their glue sticks!

I've found if going to just one store Walmart is the best selection. If I had the energy I suppose I could split my list between multiple stores to get the best deal but that's alot of gas and time.

Why is it everyone lives by a horrible Wal-Mart store? I think it's hilarious we nicknamed one of our locations the "ghetto walmart" and the other one the "nice walmart" Why is it so many walmarts have horrible staff and riff-raft for customers?
