This post can fall into so many categories on here, but I wanted to share it here for because dinner for our family of 4 was only $10.

My dh bought circular loaves of bread, day old and on clearance, from the bakery the other night. It came in a package of 6. He brought them home and was so excited about having some bread bowl dinner! So we whipped up some creamy soups and topped them with cheese and voila! A family favorite dinner! (served with sliced cheese too!)

If you have a fussy eater, chances are they will LOVE this idea and will eat every bite!

Not to mention it's a super cheap idea for dinner and yet very filling!

Just THINK of all the options you have to use this too!

That's a great idea for day old bread, I never thought of doing this with small rounds at home. It's cold here and sounds so good right now, mmmmmm

They are great for all varying tastes too:

chilli, creamy soups, stew, baked beans, fondue cheese (or chocolate), etc.

Have fun!

i did this the other day; found fresh bread bowls at the grocery store for 69 cents a piece. i picked up two (knew DS wouldn't eat one) and whipped up that super easy ww friendly potato soup to put inside. add some bacon & cheddar to the top.. oh my goodness it was wonderful! the best part? DH said it was one of his favorite meals, so that means he'll be perfectly content to have something like that during the winter and it was SOOOOO easy for me! (almost as easy as going out, with only one pot to clean).

You've given me a GREAT idea. I haven't had these in so long, and I've missed them. It's really great with sourdough w/clam chowder inside.

I do this as well with almost anything made in the crock-pot which makes a super easy to prepare dinner.

What do you all do with the bread filling? Depending upon the dish, I toast the bread filling in the oven with different spices. Most of the time I use garlic because that is a family favorite.
