I probably do it completely different than everyone else

I made kind of a spread sheet of all my typical menus, and I broke each meal down to the ingredients, and then I filled in the prices of each item, and this way I know exactly how much that Meal costs to make.
I only shop at 2 stores, so I know which store has the best prices for most things most of the time and that is the price I record in my "price book", and then I always keep track of the weekly ads to see who has the best deal on stuff I need in the pantry.
