I used to throw that last little part of food at meals--noodles, veggies, etc. There wasn't enough for leftovers for myself or my husband so why keep it. However, my 3 year old doesn't eat as much and many times the amount left is perfect for a serving for her. I found these small gladware containers that hold about 1/2 cup. They work great. When its just her and I the next day for lunch, I can use the leftover veggies to go along with her meal. She gets veggies and I save by not having to make a full dish just for the two of us. Sometimes I use noodles to add to her supper when we are having something she doesn't eat well. It is quick & easy and saves money by not making something additional she can eat.

Might work for other families with toddlers too.
