Or do you find that you still spend just as much on groceries, AND the cost of eating out?

Some weeks we end up eating out a few times - not a whole lot, but I feel like I still spend the same on groceries.

I guess it varies, if I know we are going to be eating out then I plan that when I am making my menu up for the week and my grocery bill isn't as high.
But there are those times when it happens unexpectedly and I have already crocery shopped and my bill is the same, but for those times we always have extra cash to pay for those meals, but I guess it would still sorta count and then it would be more costly.

For us, we spend MORE if we eat out. On one meal out, it averages 20.-25. I can buy 3 days worth of food for that.

I know generally it costs more to eat out; I should have specified that I budget separately for groceries and for eating out, not just for food.

Yes, it does mean I buy less groceries. But as everyone else said, I spend more overall eating out then I would if I bought more groceries, the expense is just labeled differently.

If we know we are going to eat out, we do spend less on groceries. Eating out costs way more...dinner usually costs about $35 and up depending on where we go.

I still spend the same on groceries it seems, and then food gets wasted at home as well... so a lose lose situation!

My grocery budget is what I use if we want to eat out, so if we decide to go out, that comes out of that weeks grocery monies - so yep, technically I spend less of groceries that week, but I dont save anywhere, since the extra is spent at the restaurant anyways.
