When you get more money in your budget, whether the first of the month, or a new pay period, do you end up spending more at the grocery store?

I do a lot of times. Especially if there are 5 weeks in a month, I am usually pretty skimpy on what I purchase the last week. Then I have all sorts of things we need to stock up on and refill our pantry with the next month.

I am with you on that one! We are a one income family, and DH only gets paid once a month. I do a big shopping trip right after he gets paid, and the rest of the month I just fill in with dairy, lunchmeat, produce and the neccessities if we run out.

Yes i always spend more at the beginning. I try to do all my shopping then and just fill in with dairy and bread as we need it. I have so much left from last month that I am going to try to skip shopping this month and just use what I have in the refrig/cupboards. I am going to take an inventory of what I have and make up my menu from it.

I always spend more because I stock up on things like butter, spices, things I usually buy just once a month.

I usually do one big trip at the beginning of the month and then whatevers for the rest of the month. I plan my menu, from that, I plan my shopping list. With that I do my shopping.

I do to. DH gets paid biweekly so we shop the first week for most of the groceries, and fill it in with things like milk the second week.
