Its Fall! What do you use this time of year to stock up on??? Do you have anything for the freezer or is it just stuff from the garden? Or what things are on sale at the grocery store you are stocking up on right now?

Last year I cooked one of our pumpkins after Thanksgiving and pureed and froze the flesh. I've been using it all year! I plan on doing that again.

I tend to buy spices, like poultry seasoning and pumpkin pie spice. If I find canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, and stove top on sale I will buy several of them to use later. And flour, goodness I go through alot of it, so if it is on sale for a really good price I will buy several bags.

I buy canned pumpkin. Normally cake mixes go on sale and I buy tons of them to use during the year.

I also buy chocolate chips, pie crusts, graham cracker crust and other baking stuff, that seems to go on sale around the holidays.

I also process and freeze pumpkin. If I get the jack o lantern done before it turns, that's a lot of puree!

I stock up on flour since this is the time of year it goes on sale. Also, I buy lots of winter squash when it's a good price (butternut, acorn, delicata, etc). If I store it in the dark cupboard, they keep through the winter and are so yummy.

I buy canned pumpkin for all kinds of baked goods (bread, scones, cookies, bundt cake) and for Thai pumpkin soup.
I buy fresh winter squash from a local farmer's market. Instead of selling it to me by the pound, they will sell me a box for a set price that ends up being cheaper than by the pound. I make up big batches of butternut and freeze it.

DH and I just stockd up on spices the other night for cooking and baking. I also have my eye out for a sale on tomato puree and paste because we depleted our stockpile for DD#2's christening last weekend.
