What simple and inexpensive meals do you make in your crockpot.

I have a crockpot but I'm not sure I get full use out of it. Any suggestions?

I make lots of different things in there.

Roast once a week, pork, chicken or beef. I make chicken most often. I put olive oil and seasoning on it and it is good to go.

Veggie soup and I cook that all night on low. It is great to use up leftover frozen veggies.

M2M's Creamy Ranch Chicken which is easy and super yummy.

Chicken thighs for burritos, cook them for about 3 hours and shred them with a fork.

I would be lost with out my crock pot!! I use it weekly. I am always looking for new recipes to try just for it. I have even cooked casseroles in it and it comes out good.

Cubed steak and gravy
Cabbage rolls
Swiss steak
Mac and cheese
Hashbrown casserole
Beans
Whole chicken
Roasts-beef or pork
Meatloaf
BBQ pork, chicken, short ribs
soups
French dip meat-new recipe and it is fabulous

That is just a few recipes I do. Check out the CP section and see if you find anything that sounds good.

The thing I do most is stick in frozen chicken breasts and some sort of sauce. I've made the pineapple cp chicken recipe on here. Also, cook some in BBQ sauce and eat on a salad. Cook with spaghetti sauce and eat on pasta. Or cook with salsa, corn and black beans and eat in tortillas.

I cook in my crockpot quite a bit - my favorite recipe though is chicken and dumplings, I'm almost drooling just thinking about it . But in all seriousness, a crockpot is awesome because you can throw in the cheapest cuts of meat you can find and they always turn out amazingly tender and juicy.

I just posted some crock pot recipes today!

I use my crock pot at least 3 times a week, if not more.

I have fixed everything from the main meal, to side dishes or desserts.

I like it because I can take cheap tough cuts of meat, and after they have cooked all day in the crock pot they are as tender as the expensive cuts of meats.

After a long day at work, there is nothing any better than coming home to a good hot meal!

You are right. The problem with me being home most of the day is smelling the crock pot all day!!

I love my crockpot. Just about anything you can do in the oven you can do in the crockpot. Not all things should be cooked all day though because they can tend to overcook. For example, boneless chicken I usually only cook 6hrs or so, instead of 8-10hrs like I do beef stew. I do roast beef, chicken, turkey, chili, some casseroles & mac/cheese. I just did a turkey breast last week that was fantastic! I took fresh sage, rosemary and thyme and stuffed it under the skin so the turkey had a great flavor and was nice and juicy, not dried out. This summer we tried putting a bone-in butt ham in there and it came out fantastic. We had ham on a hot summer day without heating up the house!

Beans
Chili
Soups
Stews
Spaghetti sauce

I don't like roasts cooked in the crock pot, though - they taste boiled to me. I prefer a pot roast done in the oven.
