I am not making much thats how i'm saving I was not going to bake at all but have decided it would not be christmas without it so I have cut my list down to 5 items.

I have been stocking up on baking chips ect and putting them in my freezer when they have been on sale. How about you how are you going to save money and still do your baking?

For the past 3 years I've hosted Christmas. And most know that when hosting you get stuck with doing other things besides just the main course...so this year my parents are hosting the dinner and we're going to be bringing some pies and some goodies. However I bake from scratch so my ingredients are really nothing big as they include flour, sugar, baking chips (which I already have) and some baking powder and cocoa...all things that I've already purchased and use in my daily baking.

The one thing I do make that my family requests each year that I won't forget is my pumpkin cheesecake

I've been picking up baking items here and there when they're on sale. I need to rearrange my baking cupboard, because I keep shoving more stuff in there and I almost had a bag of sugar fall on my head when I reached for the coffee filters this morning.

We host Christmas as well and most likely will be for many years to come. Somehow I was deligated to doing most of the baking as well!
However I will make 1 batch of about 5 family favorites that have become tradition. We have cut back every year for sometime now and still seem to have way too much.

I do the bulk of the cooking for Thanksgiving, but I don't do desserts. I leave that to everyone else.

For Yule/Christmas dinner, my dad makes a big pot of gumbo, and I make bread and desserts.

For baked gifts, I just keep the recipes simple and avoid having to buy a lot of specialty ingredients.

I bake a lot of fruit cakes - more than 10, and to lower the costs I buy butter and other stuff from Costco. This year more people want it, so I have to make atleast 15...but that is one of my specialties, so I don't mind the splurge once in a while.
