Do you buy an extra turkey while they are on sale and stash it in the freezer to eat later on?

We have two freezers that are over the ref. and then we have a chest type freezer.

So I have been known to buy 3 or 4 extra turkeys and hams.

Dh loves to grill or deep fry turkeys!

My sis and I had to run get a couple forgotten items at Kroger last year. While we passed the meat department we noticed a managers special on the turkeys (cant remember how much per pound) well we both got an extra to freeze. When we got to the register they still gave us the 12 or 15 dollar off they had been giving on the turkeys. They paid us 2-3 dollars to take the turkeys. We got to the car discu11ssed it and went and got 6 more. We shared with friends and got a great deal. We will be checking again on this holiday also.

In the past, I've bought extra, but this year, I have to make room in the extra freezer first! I'm thinking of buying more than usual, crock potting or oven roasting them in one weekend, removing all the meat, and then freezing it in ziploc bags. That way, I could fit more in the freezer. Same with hams.

Off to see what's in the freezer to make for dinner tonight (and start freeing up some space)!

In the past I haven't had room for an extra turkey...however earlier this year we were given an upright freezer so I will be getting a least 1 turkey this year to save for later.
