I was just baking cookies and realized what I always do. When I bake chocolate chip cookies or cookie bars, I add half a bag of chips instead of a whole one. We actually think it tastes better that way and you get twice as many goodies out of your chips!

I figured that out a whole back too. I like chocolate but I always thought the whole bag was too much chocolate. I really like chocolate chip cookies, but I also like to be able to taste the cookie part too. I have a bag of mini m&m's and I am gonna do the same with that one too.

I have to laugh because I purchase my chocolate chips at Costco. A half a bag would be quite a bit!

Yes, I also back off on the amount of chips in my cookies. I use less than the recipe calls for.

Last Christmas I ran out of nuts so I added Rice Crispies (well a generic brand) to a flourless peanut butter cookie recipe. They have since became DH's favorite cookie. I didn't mind at all since the cereal was much cheaper than the nuts!

My first time making chocolate chip cookies. I was about 9 or 10 and doing it by myself. Recipie called for one bag. Unfortunately my mom shopped at costco and in when the one bag. I spent quite a bit of time picking out chocolate chips trying to salvage my cookie dough.

Ok I now too buy my chocolate chips from costco, the small bags if I open one and don't use it all I just snack until its gone so using less probably wouldn't work

I use half a bag also, but I use the mini chips - they really spread out the chocolate flavor and then you get it in every bite! Fewer calories and two batches of cookies per bag! They are also great in pancakes, muffins, etc.
