I went grocery shopping today, and could not believe when I looked in my cart!! There was only a couple of items that were not generic!!! I had: english muffins, applesauce, drink mix, refried beans, easy mac, hamburger helper, taco seasoning, bread, ketchup, muffin mixes, cooking spray, peanut butter, sugar, tomato sauce, chocolate milk, napkins, paper towels, and sliced cheese All generic!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what I would do without generics!!

:happy dance: I agree! Generics are the way to go! There are very few items I buy that are not generic. I have a saying in my house "what can it hurt to try the generic brand?" If you try it and don't like it just dont' buy it again. I have had very few I didnt' like.

I don't know if this is true, but I've heard that a lot (not all) generics are actually national brands. Anyway, we buy generic. There are only a few exceptions:

+if the name-brand is cheaper w/ a coupon
+Heinz ketchup (DH refuses to budge on this one!)
+Diet Pepsi (I refuse to budge on this one)
+sour cream-we think Daisy is the best.

Truthfully, I have trouble sometimes telling the difference between store brand and name-brand.
