My kids are all out of diapers, but for the last 1 1/2 years my son was in diapers we never paid for them...not once. Our Stop & Shop and Shaws has a refund policy in the store that if a price is marked wrong, you get the item for free. The first time it happens, the store is supposed to go and fix the item. When my husband bought a double pack of pampers and it rang in incorrectly, he got it free. The next week, he thought he'd check again, and was surprised to see that the price was not fixed. He then continued weekly checking and getting free diapers. I felt kind of guilty of course, but if the store employees did their job, it wouldn't have happened. I almost didn't want to potty train my son, but he was so ready. Good luck, and remember to check the prices if your store has the same policy.

Hi! My son is seven and would eat me out of house and home if I would let him
We have never tried powdered milk( I think I need to!) But gas stations really do seem to have the best deals, sometimes I have bought milk at aldi and the freeze it...
I buy the 120 ct sliced cheese package for around ten dollars and that really helps with lunches. Target often has really good prices on juice box multi packs, I know I have gotten 50 for 5.00 before with in store coupons, and huge bulk boxes of fruit snacks. Aldi has mini pretles, and the dollar store has a box of nearly 100 snack size sandwhich bags, portion them up in adavance and put them in a bag- it will make lunches a breeze! I stock up on kids body wash and shampoo at the dollar store, and buy small items like hand soap, dryer sheets etc.
I think your budget sounds do-able, the main thing is really planning
Another thing that helped me was cooking in quantities like make baked ziti, tuna casserole, and freezing it in smaller portions to eliminate waste. I found several " 4 ingrediant" casseroles online that were both inexpensive and delicious
Good luch!

Good luck! I am sure it can be done.....especially if you don't eat meat. I am trying to cut back my grocery bill from $150 a week to $100. I am only on week one, but have succeeded so far.

I think you can do it, but budgets can get depressing sometimes for food. I try to offer myself a reward sometimes-like if I stay in budget 3 months in a row we will pull an extra $10 for crab legs or something fun. I budget $300 for the month for groceries, paper products, and fast food. We only have 3 in our family (really 3.5 because I'm pregnant!), and I don't think I could do it if I had to buy diapers and formula. Diapers, wipes, and formula ran us $50 a week with my son, so I know I couldn't do it! Hopefully breastfeeding will go better this time around.

The problem I have is the kids drink alot of milk t 4.15 a gallon, in one week I went through 6 gallons.

I'm trying to expand meals. Like make a chicken breast and then make chix salad for lunches. What do you budget/

Thanks
I have a family of 4 and my weekly budget is $50-$60 and I never have a problem making it work. I do use coupons, shop at discount groceries and such.

I use this whenever a recipe calls for a cream soup. Much healthier and less expensive. No one has ever noticed the difference.

Cream of "Whatever" Soup Mix

2 c. dry milk powder
3/4 c. cornstarch
2 T. dry onion flakes
1/2 t. ground pepper
1/2 c. chicken boullion powder (or granuals)

Mix all together and keep in an airtight container.
To use: Combine 1/3 cup Mix with 1 1/4 c. water in a saucepan. Cook, stirring, until thick. This makes the equivalent of one can of cream soup.

I just spent $138 on groceries today! Of course, DH was with me. We did buy a broom($8) and a big can of olive oil($12) and we shopped at a grocery store 1/2 hour from our home which has much lower prices than the chains near where we live. We only go there about once a month (and fortunately this is the only time DH comes shopping) We do not eat out at all, so that is a savings.

We typically buy: milk, juice, eggs, bread, english muffins, cereal, chicken, pasta, sauce, fresh fruit (but I buy frozen veggies), cheese, a pound of coffee, creamer.

If I spend only $50, our shleves and fridge look empty! I do not know what we are doing wrong!?!
