Well, we ventured to the grand opening of our new Aldi's today!! I did not need a quarter for the cart since they had someone passing out free ones today and showing how they work. They also gave all 5 of my kids key chains that hold a quarter. I really did not need alot of stuff and was more interested in seeing what they had and if it is worth the 20 mile trip. I found that the canned goods are a really good deal. Produce prices are unbeatable!!!! Heck I got 3# bags of red delicious and granny smith apples for $1.99 each!!! The #5 bags of mixed fruit that I usually pay $7 for at HyVee were $4 something! I will definitely go again to stock up on stuff when I need to. I go to Mankato a couple of times a month to go to Sam's club anyway, so I think I will combine the trips like I did today. I did not need any bags since I had my cooler and a basket in the back of my van. Aldi's gets a thumbs up from me!!!:happy dance:

I have mystery shopped them a couple of times and I just love going in there. The quality of the canned goods has been great and half the price (or more) of Kroger. I haven't been brave enough to try any meat, but I got some grapes there once that were a lot better (and cheaper) than any I had seen elsewhere. They are a little bit of a drive for me too. I wish I lived closer and I would do more shopping there.

The only thing I have ha to keep an eye on is the ripeness of the fruit/veggies.

I LOVE ALDI'S! I swear they should hire me as their marketing rep because I tell everyone about it and how much I love it. I got a 5lb. bag of sweet potatoes for $1.29. It is awesome!

Has anyone tried their meat? That' s the one area I haven't ventured into.

I love aldi! I drive to the next town over twice a month to stock up there. I just wish they had everything, so I didn't have to run to walmart or kroger afterwards.

In regards to the meat: I buy their whole chickens (0.69/lb), and they are good. I'm about to try their Italian sausage tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes. I've also had their frozen boneless chicken breasts and they were fine as well.

I LOVE their produce. Seriously, $0.99 for a lb of strawberries or a pint of blueberries - that's just crazy cheap compared to other stores. And they are so tasty too! $0.99/lb for grapes, 0.60 for a cantaloupe. 0.99 for a small pineapple. They also have good red/yellow bell peppers that I usually have to avoid at other stores b/c they are too expensive.

I also buy our snacks there - pretzels, crackers, and such. Canned goods, frozen veggies, milk, eggs. I haven't had any problems with their stuff. We did have 1 bag of tortilla chips that was a little stale, but I plan to send in the UPC label to get a refund.

mbell-we love their Italian sausage! DH is the biggest fan and he loves it when I put it in spaghetti. Their Polish sausage is good too-you can get a huge package for 3 something.

I can't believe that nobody mentioned their cream cheese danishes! They come in a box of six, and they are just chockfull of CALORIES!!! But oh my goodness, they are gooooooooood!! Oh, I think they have the cinnamon ones, too, but I highly recommend the cheese danishes!

Last night we tried the Pizza and that was good. We didn't care for the Chicken Nuggets. Happymom.....would you like to try them with your kids??? I hate to see them go to waste if someone might like them.
