Default What is the lowest amount of money you've ever used for food a week?

And how did you make it work? I've read on other boards before when women have only had 17 a week to work with. I'm sure in dire times you find a way to make it work. In June we had a hard month. We spent about 12 a week but my pantry was stocked so it wasn't too hard. I have a feeling some of these women didn't have a stocked pantry, though.

I could not tell you. Some weeks I spend nothing since I do not shop every week. I guess I would have to take my grocery bill and average it out. I am not motivated enough to do that! I know I have been stocking up at some good sales and am hoping to go about a month now with spending about $100 for my family of 7.

We went through a really, really rough period and was only able to afford $10 a week for a family of 4. We would get a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, Ramen noodles, rice, and beans. Sometimes we would also get a cheap package of balogna.

Well, there are times that I only spend around $20-$25 a pay on groceries, so that would be $10-$12.50 per week.

Sometimes it is hard, but most times, my pantry full, so I don't worry too much.

There was one time that we were really low on cash and only had $30 (from the change jar) to buy groceries for 2 weeks- that was tough! I think we got a jar of peanut butter, 2 loaves of bread, noodles, 2 cans of cheap tomato sauce and I forget what else.

After that week of really no food- I started to start a stockpile and clip coupons!

I've had lots of weeks that I haven't spent any money on groceries. I've found that the less often you shop the less money you spend. Currently our grocery budget for a month is $100 for the 6 of us. You have to be creative and use no convenience foods which is hard because the only way my mom knew how to cook was out of a box. I've learned to cook from scratch and my family is healthier for it.
