I buy a few things at the dollar store, once in a while. Sometimes coffee filters, dishcloths, chips and spices. I find a lot of their products look cheap for a dollar, but the size is smaller (here in Canada anyway)! I don't know sometimes if I'm really getting a bargin or not! I haven't figured out the price per unit or whatever that is yet.

I buy food items at Dollar General and Family Dollar sometimes. Two months ago they had a great deal on Folgers--$4.50 so I stocked up. I also love the vanilla creamer at Dollar Tree.

I really don't shop at the dollar stores. I have an Aldi's so I find I can buy cheaper there. If I need toiletries, I usually shop CVS with coupons.

I'll buy name brand stuff and the occassional snacks for DD - crackers or cookies. Our Dollar Tree just added coolers but I haven't been in yet to see what they have, the were installing them last time we were there... if I can ge half gallons of milk for $1 you can guarantee I'll be there weekly.

I don't. I don't trust them after all the recalls I have seen. Many of the items are not from the makers they seem to be. I prefer to pay an absolute fortune for organic.

I only have a Family Dollar here. I dont go there a whole lot. I have a question. Can you use regular coupons (from newspapers or internet) at the Family Dollar or just their coupons???? Thanks!

I've been able to use manufacturer's coupons at the Dollar General where I live.

no food from the dollar store here every since that toothpaste ordeal... I will sometimes buy candy but small amounts. I do buy all my cleaning supplies there and kitchen stuff (brush, gloves etc)

I buy the movie sized candies- saves a bundle when catching a show! I also buy pretzels there and Shasta cola. Shasta is a company that is local here, so I don't know if they have them at the other dollar stores, but they make 3 litre sodas and are very good and reputable.

I have a trick though. I Google brands I haven't heard of. If I can find a number of good sources claiming that the company makes quality products, I will buy. But if I either can't find that information or I find anything negative, I don't buy.

Also, Dollar Tree has their own distributor. I can't remember the name of the place, but if you pick up a pacage of anything there that you've never heard of, it probably has this disributors name and address (somewhere in Virginia, I think). Anyway, I did some digging a few months ago and found that this company is REALLY shady. So unless it's paper, I'm not buying it.

One woman found a chunk of wood in her can of fruit salad. That's enough for me to stay away.
