I was at the store today and the cashier told me that milk, currently about $3.00 a gallon, is going to be $6.00 this winter! This was according to her manager who went to some grocery store meeting. WOW! We love milk at my house.

well ya know everything is going up except for peoples pay something will eventually have to give... i asked my pediatrican how much milk a day my 3 year old should consume (he not a milk drinker) she said 12 oz is enough as long as he is eating dairy a couple more times a day (he loves yogurt and cheese). so we have cut down to milk at meals only otherwise water and we now use maybe 2 gallons a week sometimes 3 if there is alot of cereal being eaten. so we have drasticaly cut our milk consumption its probably a good thing as prices are going up now.

Good Grief ~ I can hardly handle it at the cost it is now. I do know that it's becoming more expensive for the farmers to feed their cows, partially because feed corn is becoming more slim. The farmers are starting to grow more corn for the ehtanol plants, which in turn is leaving less and less for the other uses (feed and sweet corns). They can't beat the price the plants are giving them per acre. Unfortunate for us ~ it's driving up the cost of other things. Well ~ that and the general inflation that's goin' on.

We pay more than that now. I only buy organic. I have cut WAY down on the amount of milk I buy, not so much because of the price, more the farming industry. Also, if you think about it, we are humans, we aren't supposed to drink cows milk, that's for baby cows. We are the only species that does this weird thing. There are plenty of other ways to get calcium in our diets. And for the big question, what do we put on our beloved morning cereal...rice milk, it's really good. I'll probably be giving it up totally soon, we've cut our consumption by more than half now.

I heard these rumors earlier in the year, but the ceiling was around $5/gallon. My doctor told me the same thing today about the amount of milk my dd needs a day. Two of my three are not big milk drinkers but do eat other dairy.

I cut down on my milk intake when I was doing Weight Watchers and has just carried over. My 3 yr old LOVES her milk. We only go through 1-2 gallons a week. I can't imagine spending that much for a gallon of milk.

We are big milk drinkers so I guess we will have to pay the price

Same deal as the days of buying diapers and formula. You buy What you need. You have to pay the price - Or Don't buy it= I Guess.

I Cut back on OTHER things that I Really don't like or need as much, in order to Keep my Grocery bill the same.
