I bought whole chickens awhile back because they were so cheap. Now, I have never cooked a whole chicken before, but with the advise of fellow mommysavers, I tossed it in the crock pot with a can of cream of chicken soup. I make mashed potatoes and corn with it. Well it was wonderful and fell right off the bone!!! There was so much liquid broth left that I hate to waste it, so I added the left over corn, some left over chicken and left over white rice from last night and froze chicken soup!!! I am so proud of myself!! I have never made soup before I always thought that was what the cans are for Now I have a ton of soup in the freezer for when the cold weather hits and I did not waste anything!!!

Slowly start trying some other soup recipes. You will see how easy it is. It is cheap, filling, and good for you.

Great job. It's amazing how far you can stretch your meals when you get the hang of it.

Oh that sounds delicious! I can't wait to try it! I love soup and to just take it out of the freezer and warm it up sounds so easy....my way of thinking!

That sounds great! USually Sams Club sells their whole chickens cooked for less than a raw one, but if its nearing expiration then they will mark it down. Im going to try this one!

That is awesome! My mom got me 2 smaller chickens when they were on clearance...I usually roast them in the oven and do what I call a "Mini-thanksgiving." My whole family loves it! But I really like your idea to do it in the crockpot...then make chicken and rice soup! I already have everything I need to do that so I won't need to spend anymore money and I have two meal ideas!! Thanx!!

I need a bigger crock pot!!!! We did a turkey breast last week, rubbed it with Onion Soup Mix and Cranberry sauce and it made really great sandwiches. But it was to big for my tiny crock pot so DH had to cut it up and lost some of it

I will have to try chicken. DH wants ham, but it is so expensive when I see it.
