I did my monthly grocery shopping today. First let me tell you, dh, 4 kids and grandson went out of town today, taking my van. NEVER shop for a month with 2 kids in a cavilier!! We went to Aldi's first spending $74, then Sam's spending $106, then finished up the groceries at HyVee for $65. Grand total of $245:happy dance: I figure another $100 for misc (milk, bread, whatever we need) for the next month (I shop 15th to the 15th). Not bad for 7 (sometimes 9) people!!!! WooHooo!!!

Wow, that sounds great! How do you know how much stuff to buy? Do you have a repeating menu or something? Does the extra $100 go for fruit and veggies too? Do you forget things all the time, shopping for such a long period of time? I always forget to buy stuff, and I'm only shopping for one week at a time .

I make a list for suppers, I think I actually have about 27 on my list this month. Some things we have more than once (like spaghetti we have every week). There are always some nights we eat leftovers or sandwiches. I buy everything we would need for those meals. I buy general breakfast things and we eat alot of leftovers for lunch. I also have things like deli ham and turkey, and cans of soup or spaghettios. I do not buy alot of fresh vegetables. I usually get big bags of frozen ones at Sams (very good and fresh!) I also buy some canned fruits and some fresh ones, I usually end up buying bananas during the month but sadly, my boys are not too big on fresh fruits either. I usually buy everything we need. I rarely forget things. Alot of my $100 goes to bread and buns because we do not like to eat them after they have been frozen, so we always buy them fresh.
