Ask your local grocery store when they mark down their meats during the week, the ones that are almost to their due date. Ours here in town is Tuesday mornings. That way you get great cuts of meat for almost half the price. You just bring it home and put it in the freezer if you are not going to use it right away. Most of the meat at ours is marked down to 1.00-2.00 per lb.

I did the same thing on pork chops this morning at the grocery store. They were center cut that were usually 3.22 lb. and I got them for 2.25 lb. I know that is not the best price but it was the best I could do. Plus as long as I freeze them today they will be fine.

Mine does it every morning between 8-8:30 so I know if I go early I can get the "deal of the day"

Ours has a special clearance section. But usually the meat looks yucky and brown. But sometimes you can find something good.

Latest Blog Entry: doing great

I just bought pork loin that was marked down and froze two of them. I'm making one tonight. They are the smaller ones maybe 6 servings. The ex. date on them was Dec. 5th, but they had a TON of them left, so I think they were just trying to move the older ones out. I have bought some clearance meats before as long as the date isn't for today- I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it's not a bad color or smell! I always make sure to use or freeze it right away...Great tip!

That's exactly what I do too! I just pop it into th freezer as soon as I get home. I would totally be lost without my big freezer!
