Bangers and mash! It's just sausages- like polish sausage or something like it...mashed potatoes and a bag of chopped up cabbage (cole slaw mix bag) OR, you can get the fresh cabbage and it's cheaper. and it's quickest to just buy a packet of gravy mix

I first cook the sausages in a frying pan, then I add the shredded cabbage and cook it on Med. for a little while. I make the potatoes and the gravy in separate pots and to serve put mashed potatoes on the plate, sausage(s) on the side and cover with cabbage then, put gravy on top. It's VERY FAST. And, even most kids will eat it. I guess I don't have picky eaters, but we LOVE it and it's a big hit with DH!

I actually don't find it takes me that long to make dinner...we don't use any prepackaged/processed/convenience foods. I usually make up a menu each Monday and then in the morning, get my veggies washed/cut etc, get my meat marinating or whatever and then when it's dinnertime, it all cooks up in a flash since I've done the prep work.

If I'm caught with scheduling conflicts and need something fast, I use my stock of homemade stews, chilis and soups and sauces that I always have in the freezer. Quick and easy!

I buy frozen chicken tenders instead of breasts so that I can portion them easier. I also find that I can defrost about 7-8 tenders in the microwave in about 10mins. I do not cube my chicken before it cooks. I just put it in the skillet and cook, when it's almost done then you can use the spatula and cut in cubes. It works much easier this way. We also usually have steamed veggies everynight so I just pull out a bag of frozen veggies and steam (or you can boil in a pot). Quick and easy veggies. Good Luck.

I agree that the easiest is to have meat cooked and frozen. I buy the rolls of meat at Walmart. You can get a 10lb roll for $10 and one night I will use 4lbs of it and make a meatloaf. While that is baking I fry the rest up without seasoning and once it is cooled I divided it into four freezer baggies and freeze. We normally end up using one for manwich, two for spaghetti, and one for tacos. There are five dinners there. Other than the meatloaf, they are all quick and easy. We also get Angel Food and it comes with alot of chicken you can deep fry fairly quick. We try not to do it more than once a week though, that is alot of fried food otherwise. My favorite dinner is chicken breast. I get boneless/skinless and put it into a 3x9 pan and bake it for 30minutes. I use a different marinade each time. My hubby did it for me one night and poured applesauce over it. It was actually very good, though the kids thought he was making an apple pie! For our dinners, other than pastas, we have one veggie, and either pototoes or mac and cheese. I find that it really only takes me about 30 minutes to make dinner (other than baking a meatloaf).

I am a new mom who is currently on maternity leave, but will be returning to teaching in a few weeks. My friend who is a working mother of 3 cooks the dinner the night before so when she gets home she can just reheat and serve it immediately to her boys and then she does not have to rush to feed 3 hungry boys when she cooks at night bc she is making the meal for the next evening. The night the boys have hockey she does hotdogs, grilled cheese or mac and cheese.

One thing that I have found to be helpful is to cook double whatever it is that we are having for dinner and throw the other half into the freezer for one of those nights I really don't want to cook. It helps when we get home late and everyone's hungry. If you freeze meals in zip lock bags they store pretty easy in the freezer and defrost pretty fast too. You could even throw it in the fridge for the day to defrost and then heat it up when you get home. Cooking double isn't really that much more work and you really appreciate it whem you eat the meal with no prep work!

I can usually find the smoked sausage or Kielbasa for under $4.00 per package, even cheaper when on sale w/ a coupon.
I do this with polish sausage, cabbage, and onions. My hubby LOVES it and so does my 7 yr old. It's so easy and yummy. For my picky 4 yr old I usually throw together some mac-n-cheese and he's happy. I serve this with corn bread, yum yum!
