Eggs are so expensive and people unknowing are throwing out good eggs just because they have passed the marked expiration date on their carton!!

Did you know it is a common practice for the egg stockers to come back to the stores and pick up the eggs that have passed their expiration dates that the store has pulled then take them wash & restamp the eggs with a later date after they test them to be alright...

TO SAVE MONEY YOU CAN DO THAT TOO! TEST YOUR EGGS BEFORE YOU THROW THEM OUT!! HERE IS HOW. I HAVE DONE IT FOR 2 YEARS AND IT WORKS GREAT AND I WAS SO SUPRISED HOW MANY EGGS THAT I ALMOST THREW AWAY!! THAT IS MONEY YOU ARE THROWING IN YOUR TRASH CAN!

Firstly, fill a fairly deep bowl with water and carefully lower the egg into the water.

A very fresh egg will immediately sink to the bottom and lie flat on its side. This is because the air cell within the egg is very small. The egg should also feel quite heavy.

As the egg starts to lose its freshness and more air enters the egg, it will begin to float and stand upright. The smaller end will lie on the bottom of the bowl, whilst the broader end will point towards the surface. The egg will still be good enough to consume, however, if the egg fully floats in the water and does not touch the bottom of the bowl at all, it should be discarded, as it will most likely be bad.

A bad egg will also feel extremely light in weight and give off a pungent smell.

I use eggs months after the date on the box, but I've never tested them. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tip!

I usually make a batch of scrambled eggs if they are getting close to the date.

That is good to know. I am never use anything past its expiration. I will start checking the eggs before tossing.

Another tip on the topic of eggs, my mom works at the university here (LSU...Go Tigers!!! hehehe) and she get me eggs super cheap. They sell them in flats (36, i think) for $3 I think. Compared to our stores here that is super cheap. Any one can get them at that price she just picks them up since she is there.

Just thought that you all may be able to take advantage of a similar deal in your areas!!
