Has anyone used the store brands of infant formula? I have been considering switching. Kroger brand is basically identical to the Enfamil we use now but at half the price. I am going to talk with my pediatrician today at our appointment. Just wondered if anyone else has considered this or is using the store brands?

We used Parent's Choice (Wal-Mart brand) and had no problems with it. The kids' pediatrician said that all forumlas have to meet a certain standard and said that Parent's Choice was one of the generics she recommended. Our kids never had problems with it. I would think most generics are fine.

We also used Parents Choice. Our pediatrician actually recommended it over Enfamil!

I also recently switched to Parent's choice formula, and my ds has not had any probs with it and it is half the price of Enfamil.

Our ped told us that all formulas are made by the same few companies and they just slap different labels on the cans. We always used either Safeway, Albertson's, Costco or Target brand (first soy, then regular) and never had an issue. Costco was the best deal, 2 big cans for $20.

We used Parent's Choice at the urging of our Ped because they all have to meet the same FDA standards. Also, he was told that the PC brand was made with a recipe that was owned by the same company that was Enfamil. Give it a shot--if it works, think of all the $$ you'll save!

Our pediatrician also recommended Parent's Choice when we switched our younger two to formula from breastmilk. They both tolerated it very well and it was MUCH cheaper than the name brands AND you can call once a month and get a $2 off coupon that they'll mail to you. :D

When we thought we would have to supplement when dd was born, dh bought a can of Especially For Baby formula (the Babies R Us store brand) b/c the label was identical to Enfamil Lipil formula. He's a chemical engineer, so he can usually explain all the weird ingredients on food labels and what they do, so I trust his judgement. I've read and been told that most fiormulas are made in the same place but given different labels. Actually, my sister told me that WalMart owns Enfamil, so PC and Enfamil are literally the same product with a different label.

Anyway, I didn't have to ever use formula so I have an unopened, unexpired large can of Especially For Babies formula fsot if you're interested. I'm not wanting much for it--just hoping someone can get some use out of it, because we don't need it (I Bfeed). PM me if you'd like it!

I've heard that WalMart owns Enfamil, and the PC and Enfamil are made in the same plant and are literally the exact same thing, as are all the Enfamil knock-offs that you can buy. Just what my sister told me. Haven't researched it to see if it's true, but it makes sense. WM makes it easy to save money, but dang if they aren't a booger when it comes to nickel and diming!!
