This may seem obvious to many of you, but just in case I figured I'd mention it. When buying Kraft Mac & Cheese with character-shaped noodles like Spongebob or Spiderman, or even their sprial noodles, you get a smaller amount in the box than their regular plain noodles. For that reason, I try to stick to the original Mac & Cheese because I get more for my money. Also, wait for sales and stock up. It goes on sale every few months (my latest "find" was 50 cents a box at Walmart) and then I buy enough for a few months.

I know that store-brand Mac & Cheese is cheaper, but it just doesn't taste like Kraft IMO.

This is the one generic I just cannot buy and we go with Kraft as well. I do avoid the character ones usuaully but my daughter managed to find the generic with dinosaurs. She was shopping with DH on that trip -- I had managed to distract her up until then. She's allowed one or two "treat" dino mac & cheese now and then.

I try so hard to tell my DH this!!!

He LOVES to get the character shaped ones! (I don't know why! :rolls eyes

I hate taking him to the store for this very reason! I save so much when he doesn't go!

This is the same for canned soups and raviolis too. Every now and again for a treat the kids can pick a character but normally it's the plain stuff.

My kids are always asking me for the character ones and I have to try and explain to a 7, 5 1/2 & 3 year old why not. And yes the store brand just does not taste the same!

My kids never really cared for the character ones, they didn't like the taste as well and I found the shells not to get as soft as the normal mac-n-cheese.

I have always thought it seemed like less when I bought them. I haven't gotten the character shapes in a long time because I don't like the texture.

And I consider my picky eater a blessing in this area because she will only eat spaghetti noodles and elbow macaroni noodles so no fun shapes battles. I have no idea why when she is only 15 mo. old.

I thought that maybe it was just that I used different shaped noodles for different recipes but after a lot of trial and error it just seems to be that she only likes those shapes.
