I haven't bought canned veggies in awhile, but want to start stocking up.

My local grocers has their store brand on sale for .69 for a 14 oz can. Is that a good price??? I thought that .40 used to be a decent sale price, but that was a year or so ago.

We're in SoCal if it makes any difference.

TIA!

I think that's a good price....our local store has them on sale 4/$3 so its close. But I wanted to add that I read in todays Boston Globe that people should try to limit their exposure to Bisphenol A (chemical in plastics and cans) by uring fresh or frozen over canned whenever possible. BPA is being banned in Canada in plastic bottles, no news on cans yet.

Our local store sells name brand veggies for about $.60-.65/14oz can (Green Giant), Store brand or 2nd brand (Butter Kernal, Hyvee Brand) for about $.50/can and their no-name or generic brand for $$.44-.48 can.

At Aldi's I can regularly get veggies for $.39/can.

Wow! Thanks for that info. I'm already trying to get rid of the plastic storage containers. I've never heard that about BPA and cans .

Where I work I can get canned veggies for .37 per can about $4.44 a case. Needless to say, I stock up on them when they are on sale. I can also get 30oz cans of fruit for $1 when on sale too.

I don't pay more than 50 cents a can unless I absolutely have to. I also prefer frozen veggies and try not to pay more than 90 cents for those.

I didn't realize that BPA was in the cans too.
Thanks for the tip.

I have always known that fresh or frozen was better for you but I didn't realize that it was because of anything more than lack of nutrients.
