I usually use half the meat required and add beans that I made from dried beans. My kids love beans.
We get our bread for free from a placed called the bread store. All donations are given to the senior center. So I cook around bread alot. Toast, sandwiches, french toast, etc.
Use alot of vegies with our meal. Whatever is in season I cook around.
Use alot of brown rice (bought in bulk) or whole wheat noodles (also in bulk). They fill you fast and are super healthy.
I bake muffins alot for snacks. Throw in alot of flax seed (bulk) and seasonal fruit or dried fruit I bought on super sale.
I shop sales. Like right now is Memorial Day sales, I buy up what I can and use for later. Like Chicken Grill pack with breast and legs 88 cents a lb. Freeze it for later use. Its cheaper than getting a whole chicken.
I dont buy from one store. Fred Meyers has all our super healthy things. Winco I buy my bulk and meats for cheap. Grocery Outlet I buy alot of my fruit, snacks, and deli meats from. I save so much buying this way.
I cook whats in season only. This way I save money and my kids get to eat differant things in differant season.
I grow my own vegie garden. This saves me so much money. And I give away what we cant eat.
I could go on....
