My grocery store has a place where the kids can stay and play.I love these girls they do crafts n such, have movies, games, books etc.(They go all out for the kids)

Anyway they also do special things occasionally...last one was a pajama party and they got to wear their pj's and watch a movie, eat popcorn etc...

anyway......some of the Moms end up at the snack bar during these events....and while grabbing a coffee there the other day I heard 2 women complaining to each other about HAVING to plan their menus and shop from week to week around the sales ad.

I have always,do,and will always plan my shopping trips like this....personally I don't necessarily HAVE to do that....but I do because I don't think it's sad ~
I think it's SMART

In our house we feel like...dh job is to make the money...my job is to get the most for it...and for me bargain shopping is just part of it.

And for me sitting down and matching my coupons with the sales ad is like a money saving game of solitaire

Surely I'm NOT the only one who feels like this???

I do the same. If I don't, I feel i'm kind of "given" my "$$ away, and frankly, I work too hard to earn it
I too, spend my time matching coupons, I look at the sale ads, email companies for coupons etc...but it's so worth it. I spend now about $30 a wk for me and my son. And that is with fresh veggies, chicken breast, rice, milk and other things I get with coupons/sale adds when they are free or almost free.

it really works out great! its kind of a game, we go grocery shopping with my mom and my sister, so we all keep an "eye" out for a good deal and tell each other...3 pairs of eyes is way better than 1
and we try to get the most things for the least $$
and plan our menus arround that.
Being frugal has allowed me to save an enourmous amount of $$ (enourmous for me anyways ) in a few months, and being a single mother with just 1 income...its very hard.
I'd rather use the money I save for a nice vacation, or saving for my son's college.

This is me, too! I feel so rewarded when I shop around the ads and get so much for my dollar!

I don't actually sit down with the ad and make a list, but I pay attention once I am in the store. I don't plan my menus since I don't cook much from recipes, but I buy what is on special and work around that. Like today at Kroger my bill went from $202 to $160 after the guy scanned my Kroger card and all the deals rang up.

I make a list and shop the sales, use coupons and try to stock up on staples when they are on sale. I look at it as earning money for my family by not "giving" it to the grocery store. We all eat well, and doing it this way adds variety, we usually dont get stuck in food ruts because the sale ads change so much from week to week.

I also check sale flyers each week. If there is stuff on sale that I need I will plan it into my weeks running around and get it. Yesterday I hit up target for diapers, wipes and baby food. They had pampers wipes on sale for $1.99 a tub. THen I had a $2.00 off 2 coupons. You cant beat deals like that. I have always been that way. Even before I had my son.
