With prices going crazy I am shopping around everywhere for great food bargains.......

one thing I do now is get my tea bags at Family Dollar...you get 100(just like the big box of Lipton)and it's only 1 buck, and I can't tell the difference.(brand is family pantry)great when making iced tea by the pitchers.

I also checked out the deli of a little gas station/convenient mart down the road and they have the best prices on some of their deli meats n cheese(plus it's closer than my reg store)they constantly have a line at their deli w/people buying sandwiches n stuff...so I know their stock gets rotated well.

anyone else scoring any great finds in odd places?

Those large cans of Arizona Ice tea, that are .99 at the store are only .59 at Aldis. Well, actually I think the price went up to .69 recently, but still a good deal. My son and dh love them.

And if you like plain vanilla ice cream, and don't mind if it isn't all natural, Meijers has a generic Vanilla Icecream in a white with black letters box, that is only 1.99. We like it just fine.

The Dollar Store has a regular supply of snack items (like Little Debbie, animal crackers, etc.) as well as some name-brand cereals. I've found that cereals packaged for the Dollar Store are in smaller boxes, but still overall are a better deal.

Here in MN Kwik Trip convenience stores have really good prices on milk, bananas, and loaves of bread.

I have also started using the teabags from Family Dollar, I couldn't tell a difference either! Last week dh and I went to the dollar tree, they had alot of name brand items, Goya seasoning, Del Monte ketchup and spaghetti sauce, dish detergent, shampoo & conditioners,etc...if you have one nearby you could check it out. I buy graham crackers, saltines, animal crackers, etc..for ds at Family Dollar or Dollar General. And at our grocery store there are some seasonings for $1, like chili powder, garlic salt, paprika, cinnamon, etc...much cheaper than Mccormick's and I can't tell a difference. They just don't have the specialty blends.

Aldi's has great prices on lots of stuff!! Canned goods, macarooni type things, hamburger, bananas, milk. If I can't get to Aldi's (half and hour away) I buy my bread and milk at Kwik Trip. They have great prices on crackers at Family Dollar.

Also, don't forget bakery outlets like Hostess and Taystee. They usually have bargain days, too. It's not just for bread - think snacks, cookies, crackers, etc.

Y'all might not think this is a bargain because it isn't dirt cheap, but I find that Target consistently has better prices on many organic and/or vegetarian foods. For example, I can buy a box of Morningstar Farms tofu corn dogs or black bean burgers or fake chicken nuggets for $2.99 at Target and these same items are $4.99 at Kroger and Publix. I can buy Annie's organic mac and cheese 4 for $5 at Target instead of $1.99 a box at the grocery stores. This week I bought organic milk (their brand) for $3 a half gallon and it tastes great. The Horizon was $4.09. Entenman's muffins are at least $1 cheaper there, juice box packs are at least $1 cheaper, and bread is too. I never used to buy food there, but ever since I have started paying attention, I have found lots of great deals.
