My usual grocery had some whole wheat flour on deep discount because they're discontinuing the brand. I've heard that people freeze flour. What's the best way to do it? Do you just put the entire five pound bag in the freezer? Do you portion it into smaller ziplock bags? What works?

I buy 50 pound bags and toss the whole thing in there. The flour that is in my house (in a glass jar) I put a bay leaf in it.

My mom always just put the whole bag in, as was. (We don't have a big enough house to have a deep freezer or I would do the same thing!) It always seemed fine; we baked a LOT so we would have noticed problems with the flour.
