I've never actually bought fresh fruit and frozen it, but I was thinking it might be a good idea. Are there any particular procedures for freezing that will ensure it will still be good when thawed? Thanks for the help!

I've heard of people putting grapes in the freezer instead of the fridge. But just snacking on them like normal. I personally haven't tried it.

Blueberries can also be frozen whole and eaten like that. They're a great sweet cold snack on a hot day.

When we've frozen fruit we've placed a single layer on a cookie sheet, frozen, and then placed it in a freezer bag. You need to freeze each individual piece of fruit or it will stick together and be a huge mess. You can freeze any kind of fruit, if it's larger like an apple or melon you'll need to make sure that it's cut into bitesized pieces before it's frozen.

I love freezing fruit and using them for smoothies, popsicles or adding to cottage cheese and plain yogurt. I also freeze over ripe bananas to use for banana bread.

I like to take bananas and freeze them till firm in the peelings. Then peel them, stick the bananas on popsicle sticks and dip in melted chocolate and roll them in nuts and refreeze.

Thanks for the tips! I like the smoothie idea as well, I didn't even think of that! Blueberries are on sale this week and yesterday I made some blueberry syrup for pancakes that my kids absolutely loved, so I thought about stocking up on blueberries so I can make it at any time.

With blueberries, if you aren't going to eat them while frozen you can just dump them in a ziploc bag and throw them in the freezer. As long as they are dry, they don't stick together.

I think a lot of it depends on how long you are planning to keep it in the freezer too. With my peaches for example, they don't last but about a week maybe 2 in their so I just peal them, slice them in half, and freeze. We eat them way too fast for anything to go bad. For long term storage of peaches I can them in very light syrup. They will keep for at least 2 years that way.
