Split pea soup with fried cornbread (uses only cornmeal, salt and water). It is something that everyone in my house loves, too.

We like ham and beans I know not very creative, but maan it's good! Ham can be kind of expensive, but I barely use any while making it, just for flavoring. Also it lasts a long time bc that's all I use it for - I don't like it any other way.

For us it's pasta fagiole or pasta and beans made with chicken broth and a little grated cheese on top. Otherwise breakfast for dinner: pancakes or eggs.

I saw a couple of mentions of beans & rice. Does anyone have a good recipe they feel like sharing? I am looking for a beans & rice recipe that has some flavor to it. If a recipe like this is already posted in a different area, just let me know. Thanks

Spaghetti, Beans & Rice, Vegetable soup (bought cans on SELL). thankfully my DH hunts for deer, hogs, squirrel, etc..., so we can put hamburger meat/ham in the meal. My DH does all the processing, so it is free!

We always need great ideas for cheap meals. I know I do and I LOVE all of them that has been posted!
My DH came up with this as it was those few days before payday.

It is SO Yummy!!! This last time we had some leftover chicken breast that he mixed in. You can also add peas.

-a bag of egg noodles boiled just until they start to get soft
-mix 1 can of chicken soup with 1 can of milk & a half can of water
-parmesan cheese
-crushed crackers for the top.

Layer the noodles & soup mixture & parmesan in a 9x13 buttered baking pan. Bake at 350 just until it browns on the top.

I love the Stove Top dish also.
2 boxes of stove top stuffing - make it & put it in a 9x13 baking pan. Place cut up into thin strips chicken breasts (raw) on top. Pour 1 can of cream of chicken soup mixed with milk over the top and bake.
