I was determined to make my grocery budget at 300.00 a month. This includes food only though. I have a family of 5 and a kitty. Two of the kids are teenagers and seem to almost always eat. But it seems like 300 is not quite enough anymore for a month. Do you think upping my budget up 50.00 more is to much due to inflation costs?? We never eat out and the kids eat hot lunches at school and for 3 kids, that is about 100.00 a month.

I think you should do it. I try to keep my family of 5 on a budget of $300 including 2 kitties and it is not always doable. My kids are much younger than yours and don't eat as much, so I think you would be okay upping to $350.

I have a family of 5, a kitty and a bird. I try to keep mine at around $600 a month. Sometimes even that is hard!LOL! The girls and I go through the lunch menu and they are allowed to pick 2 times a week tops. It's just too much for 3 of them to eat at school every day, plus they don't like everything anyway, so that helps me out. I also work at their school and will bring them a hot lunch when I go to work. I think if you upped it that would probably be better, then you wouldn't stress out about trying to stick to that $300.
