If you had an extra $200 what would you buy as a stockpile? What are the most cost effective items to buy? To maximize every penny.

I would buy meats. I try to plan meals using every piece the purchase that I can: whole one meal, bones for stock, shreds of leftover meat stretched into a stew or casserole, etc.

It is really easy to "afford" a can of vegetables or a head of lettuce, and much harder to buy the meat since it costs more per serving.

I am sure to shop that meat sales....I try to never pay full price for it.

I might think of it a little differently if we had a smaller family, but since there are 10 in our house, I need to stretch everything that I can.

I would (and do) follow the seasons and the sales. And it is important to remember to buy only what you're going to use and for me the more basic the better.

Things that I regularly stockpile -
- toilet paper
- veggies (these I can myself)
- shampoos
- meat
- flour
- beans
- rice
- oatmeal
- fruit - though I didn't get near what I normally do
- Oreo cookies - had a really great sale awhile back

I would also buy a meat bundle. It would be the best use of "extra" money.

I'm in desperate need of non-food supplies so it would go there. I'm not as good about finding them on sale.

It would depend on what I already had. Right now I'd set aside 100.00 for meat. I would shop sales and buy the cheapest I could find to get the most for my money. Then I'd buy some pasta, sauce, hamburger helper meals, flour, oil, baking supplies and toilet paper. Those are the things I'd need right now.

If I had no stockpile I'd buy

100.00 worth of meat

flour

sugar

oil or shortening

pastas

sauce

potatoes

canned veggies and fruit

dried beans

spices

peanut butter

cheeses

With these things I could throw a meal together at any time!

Also ....soap, shampoo, toilet paper and laundry detergent!

I would also buy more of the expensive items so my weekly list would be cheaper.

MEAT- Hamburger, whole chicken/chicken pieces, bacon mabye something else if it was cheap or on sale

PEANUT BUTTER- I buy the big 4 pound tubs and we use them fast

EGGS- Need for baking and for easy meals

BUTTER- I would buy a few pounds and put them in the freezer

RAZOR REFILLS- so flippin' expensive and we don't have a CVS or Walgreens to get those super deals that most you ladies get

COFFEE- Dh drinks it and can be expensive

APPLESAUCES/CANNED FRUIT- for ds lunches and to serve with meals

FROZEN JUICE- we go through alot and its the best value that I've found for juice

PAPER PRODUCTS- I would buy some toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, and pull-ups

NOODLES- spaghetti, elbow, etc

CLEANING- dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent

and last my guilty pleasure ( its actually more of a need) ENERGRY DRINKS

Then I would probably do a walk through and see if I was low on anything

That would pretty much be my list too. Except for the soap, shampoo and toilet paper-I have TONS of that type of stuff stockpiled right now.
